I just completed this painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus as a demo for a larger piece I will be making in the coming weeks and I'm super happy with how it turned out! In the past, I have generally found oil paint to be less precise than drawing and therefor monumentally more annoying - but this painting just flowed so naturally, and the colors are so rich! Perhaps I am learning to surrender like an iconographer? Or I just found a subject that accentuates the medium and my style.

I'm also excited because I actually set up my tripod and filmed a time lapse and the video is just a tiny bit addictive to my brain - I hope you enjoy it too. The video quality isn't perfect - especially towards the end where the glare makes it difficult to see the thorns - but I'm learning and hopefully will make more soon.
